The short answer to my question: no one. We all lose. If the republicans are right, our FBI is corrupt and working actively to oust Donald Trump, a duly elected president. There is a deep state who ostensibly runs Washington DC and can get rid of a president if it so chooses.
If democrats are right, we have a sitting president who was chosen and promoted by Vladmir Putin. Russia’s meddling in our 2016 election was successful and the candidate they had groomed for years, Donald Trump, won.
So that’s it. Pick your poison. Either the country’s highest law enforcement agency is corrupt and biased, or our president is compromised in the worst way by the principle American adversary of the last fifty years. The current division in America is going to take years to heal.
So who is wrong, and who is right? Let’s look at the implications of each party’s narrative and try to prepare ourselves for the coming storm.
If Sean Hannity and Donald Trump are right, Hillary Clinton needs to be re-investigated, and the FBI, which has been biased for years, should be gutted and restaffed by nonpartisan agents. The Deep State will be revealed and removed.
If the mainstream media and democrats are right, we are not just going to lose a president, we are going to lose a presidency.
No matter what, America loses. We lose. I don’t know how this whole thing is going to turn out. This situation is unprecedented to say the least. Unfortunately, because of the way the public discourse is developing, there has to be a winner and a loser. There is no compromise between the sides, and when the truth is revealed, I doubt the losing side will be quick to accept it.
I wish I had some comfort to give, or a realization that provides hope about the future. I don’t. All I know is it is going to get a lot worse before it gets better. This is a serious situation and the implications of either side’s narrative are dire.
